I've read that you should order bridal shoes one size bigger than your normal size - is this right? (doing it on internet...)

It depends on the fit I guess, as with all shoes. I had open toed strappy ones and the size that fit were the same size as all my other shoes.

amazonianwoman · 04/07/2007 14:45

Didn't know that but come to think of it all the ones I tried in my usual size were too small, so ended up buying a size bigger for comfort. Wore them round the house with plastic bags over them too to wear them in

AnguaVonUberwald · 04/07/2007 14:47

I think you just need to wear them in (around the house, while not cleaning/cooking or any other activity that generates dirty)

er, no

what an odd thing to say

auntyspan · 04/07/2007 15:37

It's not an odd things to say. I read that due to the fact you'll be on your feet for the majority of the day, your feet will probably get hot and swell, therefore you should get a slightly larger than normal pair.

but i am often on my feet for long periods (ie at work i do 12 hour shifts and hardly get to sit down) but i dont buy shoes a size too big

tbh if your shoes are too big you will get blisters

auntyspan · 04/07/2007 15:41

Hmmmmm - think will buy normal size and break 'em in. Sounds less risky than buying big size.

Thanks ladies....

I ordered my normal size and they were fine once worn in

Bear in mind if you are looking at wedding shoes on dancewear websites (why is there such a crossover?) ballet shoe sizes run different to street shoe sizes so they may have an overarching disclaimer to this effect.

Just dug mine out - they're by Diane Hassell, remember trying on some by Gabriella & somebody too - they were all definitely sized smaller than usual, in fact all the dedicated wedding ones were [smlie]

MelissaM · 05/07/2007 08:40

I think I bought my usual size. Just make sure you break them in properly. Shuh (if you have one near you) and Faith have some beautiful strappy shoes at the minute that would be perfect for a wedding if you want to be able to try before you buy! Good luck with the wedding.

no, i think normal size bridal shoes is ok
