Mclaren or quinny zapp?

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 17:26

DD is nine months. I know the zapp doesn't recline but want this as a second light weight buggy for out and about so am thinking perhaps thats ok and i'll use the carrera if i want her to sleep... any opinions on which would be best? or other suggestions? I've been looking for AGES and keep thinking if i hold out a bit longer something good will come out.

Maclaren Triumph

even reclines

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 17:34

Hmm... I have always loved maclarens but want something brightish as carrera is black. Will check out their new colours when they come out...like the look of the zapp but was thinking the mclaren was probablythe more practical choice.

I've just recently got a miralite and it is brill - got a bargain off ebay. It's been tested in the city and off roading. It has two seat positions and DD is 4.5 months and is comfy in both

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 30/06/2007 17:38

maclaren triuphm over zapp. the zapp is small but not that light.

MrsBadger · 30/06/2007 17:40

Triumph comes in red, pink, royal blue, coffee, or grey with orange flashes.
Quest comes in grey with pink, red, orange, silver or blue flashes OR b&w graphic print, hot pink, or retro blue and white sailor stripe.
Not orange or lime admittedly but not black.

I thought the Micralite was from 6mo

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 30/06/2007 17:42

i thought it was as well mrsB.

moljam · 30/06/2007 17:43

ive had both-have zapp at moment and hate it.
i had quest and it was great ,only reason i got rid of it was because of smaller car boot.

peachygirl · 30/06/2007 17:44

It seems to differ from shop to shop some say 3 some say 6. DD is quite small but I got the buggy snuggle with it and I think it helps give her a bit more support.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 30/06/2007 17:45

but its just a hammock seat peachy, no real support.

peachygirl · 30/06/2007 17:50

I have a silver cross which I use most of the time

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 17:55

Oh hadn't thought of a microlite... so general opinion seems to be that the quest isn't a good choice. Mrs B I will have to look at the colours then, all the ones I've seen seem to be grey but thats probably just the techno. Is it the quest or the triumph that is more expensive because it reclines more does anyone know?

OP posts:
peachygirl · 30/06/2007 17:56

the quest is more expensive it has extras like an extendable leg rest

zubin · 30/06/2007 17:56

I had a zapp and got rid of it after about a month - v uncomfortable and my ds was older tips over really easily - probably the reason there are always loads of 2nd hand ones on ebay! looks good but not practical

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 17:56

Peachy is it a stroller? Nowhere round here does silver cross or at least not a big collection, they've probably got a website tho i guess.

OP posts:
used2bthin · 30/06/2007 17:58

yes zubin it seems to be the in thing to have doesn't it? I am a fashion victim! But after hearing all this i will not be buying one

my silver cross??- no I suppose it's a pushchair but it is light 10Kgs. silver cross do the pop which is very similar to a maclaren. I went for the micralite as it gave us the off road option. I looked at the quest but thought it would be a squeeze in the boot of my car

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 18:05

Ah yes just remembered a thread about the silver cross dazzle a while back, i liked the look of that but don't think its out yet... or could just be i havent seen it cos no where near does it. But maybe it is best to go with maclaren since its well known to be good? Decisions decisions!

OP posts:
peachygirl · 30/06/2007 18:07

I think the general consensus on here is that everyone ends up with a maclaren... my time will probably come too

moljam · 30/06/2007 18:12

is microlite any good?

used2bthin · 30/06/2007 18:13

lol Peachygirl, yes it does look like that! I promised XP the carrera'd see DD through the pushchair stage and i s'pose but i want a new one!

OP posts:
used2bthin · 30/06/2007 18:14

sorry that was i s'pose it could have- have had a rubbish week and am still not with it!

I like it, But as the others say the main drawback is that is only has two recline positions. It recently got the Which best buggy award 2007.
Misdee (who I think is having a break from MN) said it was great when she was selling hers and she is the queen of buggies.
I think some reviews say it is flimsy but that's not how I have found it.

moljam · 01/07/2007 20:24

thanks peachy.we have zapp,so 2 reclines is better than that!
