Anyone kept their BT line but had the calls go through someone else ??

What i mean is that i've had a load of stuff come through from something called Homecall.
Apparently i keep my BT landline and just pay the basic line rental and then my calls are done through Homecall.

From what i've read it would save me some money but am not sure about messing with stuff like this.

Anyone else done it ???

Hi, I think we are with Homecall. If it is the one through phones 4 U.
We are happy since it reduces the expense of phoning the US as much as we do.
Plus you can phone other people that use Homecall for free.

Hulababy · 04/09/2004 09:24

We are with Homecall too. We don't use our land land much anyway though so not sure how much of a difference it has made. And I don't know anyone else with Homecall I don't think - to get the freebies.

We are still with BT but make all international, daytime national and mobile calls through 18866 .

Blimey - have just noticed that national calls are now free with them - that must have only just started - I had been sticking with BT for their 6p an hour evening calls. (18866 was 0.5p a minute before). I will be making ALL calls through 18866 then!

You can still only do it by dialling the code though, they don't have a subscription service or a phonepal plug-in thing. It says you can sign-up a mobile too, haven't looked at that yet.

Lowryn, calls to US are 1p a minute with 18866, to landlines and mobiles, I don't know how that compares with yours?

So with Homecall all calls to another homecall line are free and all calls to anyone else are free for up to 90 minutes on the anytime plan is that right ???

Think i'll have to ring them just to clarify a few things.

I never usually sign up for things like this without reading things properly, but i was having a crap day and the guy on the phone was soooo nice, i'm a sucker for a bit of charm

nutty, 18866 is free, no rental, you just register online and they bill you once a month for your calls (pay by direct debit). Calls to mobiles are 12p a min Mon-Fri, 2p at weekends. All UK calls are now completely free. Oh, and only a 1p per call connection charge.

Are you actually committed to Homecall?

Helgand · 04/09/2004 15:02

We have a BT line and use Talktalk for our calls - free to other talktalk customers and various other promises about being cheaper than BT.

nutcracker · 05/09/2004 20:25

I can cancell at any time.

Hmm not sure what to do now.
