Gift ideas for premature babies ?

My friend was/is pregnant with twins but was rushed into hospital on Saturday and one of her babies was delivered. She is approx 12 weeks early. Other baby is still inside and being monitored.

I would like to get her a gift (I'm going to see her in a few weeks - she lives in the US) - any ideas?

depending on what the medics allow -i would say if that was okay with the staff a nice comforter toy and clothing for low birth weight babies - try mothercare

If you get her Petit Bateau clothes (you know the newborn ones that don't fit normal babies) they will probably be a lifesaver. I had a nine week premmie and these were the only brand that really fitted. They are also much admired in the US. Other than that, just take your time and patience and that's what she will want most.....

Petit Bateau do some lovely clothes. I brought a PB outfit for dd for her coming home from hospital outfit. I just wish PB was available more over here.

My twins were premature and we found clothes to fit in Mothercare. At the time (5yrs ago) they had 2 sizes of "small baby" clothes so look at the labels carefully. How about a treat for your friend, she's probably feeling a bit emotional at the moment.

What about something for her - a big shirt so can cuddle her baby inside it next to her when she can hold the baby and use it for bf.

WOW - I didn't know they could just deliever one twin. She much be very emotional.

I know, it's incredible isn't it, truly amazing. I know she was really really keen to bf them both but do you think she can, since she's still pregnant - her hormones must be all over the place?! Little one looks like she's hooked up to all sorts of wires and tubes so not sure how she's being fed at the mo. Apparently she's doing as well as can be expected and I guess the more days baby 2 stays where it is, the better.

Think I will go for a nice treat for her (and her husband!) and something for the babies like a little comforter or petit bateau as seems v.popular!!

this website has really teeny things , i'll keep everything crossed for her..x

Thanks bundle - all those tiny babies ...

Good grief - if it makes me emotional, can't imagine what she must be going through.

Incredible to think that my dd was a whole 8lbs heavier than this little one yet she's still so perfect ... just v.small. Fingers crossed everything works out ok
