I'm going to invest in an ice cream machine (one that freezes as well as churns) - any suggestions re any that are fab (and any to avoid)?

  • has anyone found a good source on the internet to get these at less than the price in the shops?

I bought a super one by Cuisinart - not sure where you'd get it in the UK though. I really like it, you have to keep the bowl in the freezer, but when the mood takes you it's 25 mins to soft scoop ice cream/ sorbet, and a couple of additional hours in the freezer for solid ice cream. All my friends have complimented it - Nigella has some lovely recipes in her Forever Summer book. It was very economical too - only $50 all in. Also - you can make sorbet with Splenda - so excellent for those watching their calories.

Mine is made by Philips and sounds very similar to mit's. It was bought in Denmark but I'm fairly sure you can get it in the UK. It works really well and we all love it.
