Mending tiny tears in linen trousers

Help! I pushed past a vicious rose bush at the weekend and now have 2 small right-angle tears, with slightly frayed edges, in my favourite trousers.

I have seen some "magic mending" powder in one of those mad mail order catalogues like Innovations, does it exist and if so can I get it in a shop? Otherwise is there any one-sided iron-on mending tape (similar to wonder web hemming stuff)?

TIA!

You can get iron-on webbing which is generally used for strengthening waistbands or facings in dressmaking.

It is called 'Vylene' and you will get it in any dressmaking shop or haberdashery.

You may have to buy a minimum quantity e.g. 20cms of 115cms wide but it is very useful stuff to keep in the house.

Cut a small square of it then simply iron on to the back of the tear. Good luck!

Me too AQ, I was just going to put "Mending tiny tears" and thought I'd get referrals to a doll's hospital!

(Have never seen Tiny Tears wearing linen trousers though )
