Car insurance help

Hello, so firstly I changed my car mid way through the year so they put price up quite a bit. However I managed to get it slightly lower as I quoted another site.
So this year I have paid £800 for my insurance, no accidents etc. I thought I would do a quote with my ecisiting company for when it renews and as a new quote it would be £3000!! How the hell can it jump that much? But then I notice the apr.

Does the apr if you pay monthly depend on your credit rating?? And if so as I was already a customer and just renewing with same company would my apr still be relatively the same. I am looking at Hastings essential. They have just stung me because we are being evicted and I am being told I have to pay them for the privilege of just changing my address.

I am 26, 5 years no claims, 2 accident which was third parties fault and claimed on their insurance and have a zafira tourer 2014 plate 2litre diesel. When I looked as I was buying it the quotes were nowhere near as expesenive

I would go on compare the market and get some new quotes. That sounds ridiculously high.

@Fairylea I have just been on there and they are even saying it would be £140 up front and £100 a month but over 8 or 10 months. Don't understand what has happened to the usual 11 months. I am hoping when I go to renew Hastings will be reasonable just wondered if anyone had experience with regards to why such high apr is jr my credit rating or just for everyone in general. I get that when I was paying £35 a month j had a polo but that was brand new when I bought it compared to this which is 4 years old :(
And I don't want a black box fitting as not heard much good about them :(

I had to get a black box in my car when my DD passed her test, it was with MoreThan and after getting it fitted she moved away to uni so it was monitoring my driving for a year. I didn't have one problem with the box....and I actually earned cashback for good driving Grin.
