ok so which are the best ones?
Its prob very simple but why are there so many!

I second srew in ones and ones that open without leaving a bit to step over!

I've got baby dan metal extendable/adjustable ones and they are really good as although they are easy for an adult to open it's tricky for a child to do until they are 5/6

the kiddyguard one is fantastic
def don't go for one with a "trip bar" - lethal!

the kiddyguard looks great but £60 is a lot we need 3!!! Does anyone make a similar one cheaper?

on kiddicare there's a babydan wooden one and the whole gate swings (either way)

we have one like it and it's great

I had the kiddyguard and didn't like it and replaced with babydan one (metal or wood both designs similar). I struggled to get the kiddyguard shut quickly and if I had been downstairs and it was shut at the top of the stairs I wasn't tall enough to lean over and open it!!!!!

can't believe that an angry toddler could pull a pressure stairgate off - both DS1 and 2 STILL insist on swinging (and climbing) over the gates and they've never moved - we did have to replace one of them after DH had fallen over it one too many times (dashing from kitchen to phone and not having actually opened it before trying to go through ).

has anyone tried the lindam babydan equivilant? Any good?
