Has anyone bought an AEG washing machine lately ...

After 11.5 glorious and faithful years my beloved AEG Oko Lavamat is in dire need of a replacement - oh, how sad do I sound?!

Anyway, want to replace it with another AEG and am wondering whether anyone has purchased one recently and if so, what model and how is it? I started off looking at a 1600 spin 6kg machine but have just realised our current model is only a 900 spin so a 1400 spin would probably be a pretty good step up. Any recommendations?

Thanks.

I have the AEG Lavamat Turbo (bought 1 year ago) - washer dryer 6kg drum thingymabob.

Very pleased with it. Goes up to a 1600 spin... lots of different programs (but of course, we only actually use about 3 ). If I had the choice again though, I would have looked for a model with a slightly bigger drum so I could have fit our kingsize bed throw into it! I think 7kg would have been a better drum size.

Yes, I bought the one that does a 1400 spin last year.

Thanks for the info ... still debating which one to choose! And mopping up the puddle of water on the floor after each wash!

Thanks for those links Scrumpy ... have you made a decision yet? I'm so sick of debating a 1400 vs 1600 and AEG vs Bosch with DH that I've handed him the specs and prices and told him to decide!!!

I have an AEG 1600 spin but tbh I have never used more than 1200 - I think certain programmes do use the 1600 spin but the clothes come out quite creased - OK for towels in winter but apart from that I wouldn't go for the higher spin.

Thanks Stripey ... have elected for a 1400 spin but not sure yet whether AEG (preferred) or Bosch as depends on delivery times which is looking like 2-3 wks for AEG ... meantime machine leaks and unit is warping. Uh oh.
