Baby clothing advice needed

Hi all,

We are opening a baby shop in Tring, Hertfordshire in October and we are currnetly researching what we are going to stock. We want a nice middle of the range clothing brand but are not sure what to go for. We don't want clothing you can buy in mothercare but we don't want to be so exclusive that the items we sell are too expensive. Can I ask what sort of brands would you like to see in an Independent nursery/baby store?

Thanks in advance for all you advice...much appreciated as we are going around in circles here! :-)

I don't know whether this would be of any interest but there is a range of children's clothes from South Africa called Naartjie which I've never seen stocked here. My kids have quite a lot of their stuff and we've bought a lot as presents and EVERYONE always asks where they can buy the clothes. You'd certainly have me as a customer!

stuff from the US? Carter's, or Little Me?

how exciting Mirrorgirl. Do keep us posted (I'm not too far from Tring I dont think).
Also have some Naartjie clothes - they're lovely and I do like Osh Kosh too.
Check out a shop in Enfield High Street that opened last year selling 'designer' childrens clothes. They seem to be forever having a half price sale so I dont think their clothes sell very well at all (I certainly have never bought anything in there although I always used to look)

Wow, wish I lived near Tring! The only independent baby shop we have in my town sells Baby Dior etc, which is rather beyond my price range.

I love Catimini clothes and always treat DD/DS to some in the sales. Their designs are quite funky and in nice bright colours. Steiff (the German teddy bear people) also make some lovely toddler things.

Will rifle through some drawers and come back...

Mirrorgirl - Bright Bots are a lovely Australian brand of really colourful clothes for up to 2 years I think. There are a couple of online stockists in the UK, but nothing in the shops as far as I know.

Until now I've ordered from SnazzyKids who are great by the way!
