Looking for a new roomy car
Basically I'm 5'9 and DH is over 6 foot, he likes to put his seat right back I'm not as bad!! We need a car that we can easily fit 2 rear facing car seats behind us with comfort!!

So far looked at a ford Mondeo estate but think it will Still be abit squashed

Kia Sportage , I have dh and dc with long legs and this has the biggest seat pitch of a lot of cars .. we went and sat in soooo many ! This is what we have , it's like first class in the bag with the leg room !

LemonBreeland · 28/10/2018 13:19

I would say go for anything German. Built for tall people Wink

randomsabreuse · 28/10/2018 13:20

Skoda Superb. Mondeo is pretty big unless you're in the market for S class or similar.

Racecardriver · 28/10/2018 13:21

Cars we’ve had (taller than you) that haven’t been an issue with car seats include range rovers (evique, sport and the regular kind). Audi’s (A7 and A8). A very long bmw estate car (not sure what kind) and a long bmw convertible thing, again not sure what kind. Jaguars (XJ and XF was five for me, I am 5”10). Cars that have been to small have been Audi A1, bmw 350d (or something like that), BMW X1. Things you should be looking at are how low the seats sit and how long the base is. Things like a small boot or deep foot wells are also good in keeping cars small but roomy.

TheFairyCaravan · 28/10/2018 13:22

We've got a BMW 220 Active Tourer. DH is 6'4 and DS2, who is also 6'4, can sit behind him quite comfortably

CMOTDibbler · 28/10/2018 13:23

Skoda Superb - I'm 5'9, dh is 6'3, and ds is 5'5 so far. We have loads of room for the first time ever

YetAnotherUser · 28/10/2018 13:23

I'm 6 ft and had no problems in my Octavia (MK2)

Redcrayons · 28/10/2018 13:30

I considered the Ford Kuga for me and my 6ft plus teens. Plenty of head room. I actually went for Ecosport in the end, mostly due to price, which is plenty big enough for us.

B1rdinthebush · 28/10/2018 13:39

I'm 5'10" and my husband is 6'8" and we have a Mondeo Estate. My kids are also very tall and we have plenty of room.

BigusBumus · 28/10/2018 13:52

I've got a Discovery Sport which has loads of room for husband who is 6ft 3 and 3 teen boys all over 6ft. (I am a weeny 5ft5 in comparison).

CaseStudyResearch · 28/10/2018 13:55

Vauxhall Insignia.

6ft6 FIL has driven it a long distance comfortably. We are both tall and there’s plenty of room for us both to have our seats back, plus room for 6ft4 and 6ft 5 BILs in the back.

mama1dc · 28/10/2018 14:15

@B1rdinthebush do you DC rear face ?

OP posts:
Waterdropsdown · 28/10/2018 14:21

The rear facing car seats will cause a problem. We have 2 rear facing and a very large SUV my tall husband cannot have the seat back as far as he wants for driving (I find drivers seat ok but feel squashed in passenger - I’m 6ft).

You’ll probably have to have less room in the front for a while with most cars.

randomsabreuse · 28/10/2018 14:39

We can just get 2 ERF in a Subaru legacy estate with Cybex Sirona behind 6 foot DH and well reclined Britax 2 way elite, but it's marginal on comfort for DH to drive and a little tight for passenger.

Mondeo ok for us (I'm only 5'6) - much bigger than Legacy

JellySlice · 28/10/2018 14:39

We had a Mondeo estate in similar circumstances (two in large car seats, dh 6'3", me 5'8") and it was very comfortable. The only reason we changed it was that it could take two high-backed boosters and dc3's rear-facing seat, but not all 3 high-backed boosters.

Shmithecat · 28/10/2018 14:46

I'm 6'2, dh is 6'4. Depends on your budget I guess but a LR Disco 3 or 4 would work. Plenty of room behind the front seats for an ERF car seat. I also had the Joie Every Stage rf in a Mitsibushi Shogun (LWB). We've currently got a Disco 3 and a Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon.

Di11y · 28/10/2018 14:57

Skoda superb with dh 6'7, Octavia a little snug.

AnneWiddecombesHandbag · 28/10/2018 19:08

Were all massive and we have a Mercedes e class estate. Loads of room! My dh is 6ft 4 and has his seat right back and the tall 6 year old has loads of room behind him.

My dad has a Vauxhall insignia which also has acres of room in the back.

BoomTish · 28/10/2018 19:19

I’m 5’ 11”, DH is 6’ 4” and plenty of room in my BMW 330, even if I’m sitting in the back and behind him.
