has he ever had any top trumps? loads of different types. can play as a game, but also interesting info.
ds had power rangers for xmas, which I quickly got fed up of, and has since had dinosaurs, space and world wonders.
ds spends hours looking at them.
He is only 4y8m though, so maybe they are too young for 6yo's - don't know?

Merlin · 13/06/2007 22:53

Lego here too! In fact building anything out of anything.

Also riding his bike round and round the garden non stop.

bighug · 13/06/2007 22:55

Playmobil, endlessly, he is 6.5 now and has been into it for about 2 years. He has the container ship, crane, police car, desert truck, a couple of helicopters. But he's really into imaginary play and not every child is (his sister who is 4 does not do it at all really).

rosealbie · 13/06/2007 22:56

he sounds the same as my ds, he's got a real passion for numbers, adding, subtraction etc. He will play with lego and build a marble run occasionally but would prefer to be working out maths problems.

His other passion is Star Wars and he likes the Star Wars top trumps (because of the numbers).

Oh, he also likes jumping off things and water

He is almost 6

geomag (best invention in the world)

pokemon (cards and figures - anything ..(drives me batty)

Ladymuck · 13/06/2007 23:13

Ds1 does lots of imaginative play with ds2 (4), and we have a selection of praite stuff, as well as toy shop/kitchen type stuff which gets used a lot. He likes Lego, Knez etc. Has just got started on the wii so is hooked currently (though goign round to a frineds to hang upside down on the climbing frame won over the wii which is healthy....I think).

I take a pot of geomag out if we are going out anywhere - they mmake shapes and build cages around baddies (usually pokemon!)

j20baby · 13/06/2007 23:37

dd(7) likes reading argos and next catelogues, well anything with baby stuff in it really, she's not really into toys either. she's a crazy child!

what about childrens boardgames like scrabble?

singersgirl · 14/06/2007 00:07

DS2 (nearly 6) doesn't really play with many of his toys. He likes dressing up and role play, but did happily spend an hour yesterday just with one plastic tiger cub and a pot of slime. He's quite keen on science-kit type things - enjoyed hatching butterflies for example.

He is not in the least mathy, though.

SofiaAmes · 14/06/2007 06:07

Meccano - tried (unsuccessfully) to make a machine that would cancel out the sound of his little sister whining. Old piece of rope that gets tied to anything with wheels and little sister and then gets pulled. Dressing up clothes. Went through phase of playing chess against himself. Not so interested in Lego or other traditional toys. Loves wordsearches and all his math homework. Loves to climb trees. Gave himself a black eye when he tried to play with a baseball and mitt.

Budababe · 14/06/2007 06:24

Football, football, football.

PS2 - plays FIFA 07 constantly. Likes some stuff on PC.

Still plays with cars although not as much as he used to.

Light sabres.

Lego.

katelyle · 14/06/2007 06:46

Football, football, football, cricket, football, football football - can you see a theme emerging?

Inside - hotwheels cars, soft foam indoor football. Club Penguin. Loud things to annoy big sister. Geomag.
