Dd (4.5) has had a v hard time lately, I want to get her a fantastic dress for Saturday ... any ideas?

For anyone who's been following my thread about dd and her recent health problems this will make more sense. But without going into it all again here she's a lovely girl, has been a total trooper through an extremely tough few months and is going to a dear friend's party at the weekend. I've been so stressed about her that I haven't even thought about what she might wear and would like to treat her to something really special. I've been scouting around online and can't find a thing. Maybe I'm too late to order something before Saturday anyhow ...

She doesn't like pink, super girly type things but loves bright colours and flower / stripey type patterns.

Boco · 12/06/2007 22:06

retro?

imaginaryfriend · 12/06/2007 22:06

There's a lovely dress on that POP site. Wish they did my size ...

Ladyoftheflowers, could you link to that one again? It has a green rabbit on it or something? I have to mention here that dd is obsessed with rabbits.

I'm spoilt for choice now. That John Lewis spotted wrap dress is something she'd love too.

Thanks F&Z but I'm feeling so far from gorgeous at the moment, very grey and stressed and in dire need of a rest.

Dd is totally beautiful in all the most important ways. And she's being a very brave little soldier which makes me love her all the more.

I just saw your dd on your profile - she is absolutely gorgeous and would look beautiful in any of the dresses people hae suggested. I hope she has a lovely time at the party

Thanks so much again. The photo on here was taken before she got ill but the brilliance of her pre-ill face still shines through. At least I hope it does to other people and not just me.

She's beautiful and brave

hairymclaryfromdonaldsonsdairy · 12/06/2007 22:23

but i'll bet she still has gorgeous dark hair and lovely skin?

imaginaryfriend · 12/06/2007 22:23

She is VQS. Children put adults to shame in the way they deal with illness, hospitals, etc. I was watching her yesterday with the most important specialist we've encountered and she was happy, chatting, making him laugh and not at all stressed. I, on the other hand, was sitting white-knuckled, sleepless and desperate for answers with my notebook filled with questions!

I'm sure her courage will add to her beauty not detract from it.

I hope she's feeling better now.

imaginaryfriend · 12/06/2007 22:24

hairymclary, gorgeous dark hair but extremely unwell skin. She's quite disfigured at the moment.

mum23girls we've got a long way to go and a few different scenarios to consider. There's a not-so-bad one which will be moderately lengthy but manageable. There's a much more long-term one, possibly life-long, but not life-threatening. And there's the unthinkable one which seems, so far thankfully, to be a real long-shot. The Big Guy yesterday suspected no. 2 of the 3 scenarios would be most likely.

How about some really fab hair things etc as well? Would she like to go nuts in Accessorise?

(am littlelapin, BTW)

this is absolutely georgeous i bought it for DD for a party this weekend and everyone has commented on how pretty it is. (DIdnt get the hat though!)

Aitch · 12/06/2007 22:31

that is nice, vvv, i like the piping.

imaginaryfriend · 12/06/2007 22:32

Hello ll!

You can ask what's wrong but I'll be damned if I can tell you. She began in January to get some red patches on her face and genitals. These began to blister and spread and have gradually taken over most of her face and a large part of her genitals and anal area. She's flummoxed a host of dermatologists and paediatricians so we finally got sent to see the top dog at Great Ormond Street who was brilliant and has taken biopsies and given us the 3 scenarios mentioned below. All are rare and hard to shift. The first one will see her eventually free from this and without lasting effects, maybe 3-6 months down the line. The second one will see her ill for her whole life but in a manageable way. The third one is potentially fatal but he was very very cautious about even mentioning it. I don't think it's likely.

She'd love that, vvv. Her favourite colour is blue and flowers are her favourite pattern! Plus the hat can be something to hide under a little if she's feeling self-conscious. She hasn't done many 'public' appearances lately!
