Do I want a Maclaren Techno XT....If not what do I want?

Requirements:

Must lay back suitalbe from birth or 3m
Must have hood
Must have raincover (or available seperately inexpensively)
Must fold up smallish/umbrella fold
Must have shopping basket
Needs to be £100ish or less, although I think I will have to look for a special offer to get an XT

If it doesn't meet those criteria DP won't buy it, so don't even suggest it .

What else might I like?

maclaren is good.

Go and flirt with the others - but wake up wiser and buy the XT

CarGirl · 11/06/2007 22:00

see up you can get the maclaren ryder same as xt but no adjustable handles

SlightlyMadScientist · 11/06/2007 22:10

Will check it out...just checked promo video for the XT on Mothercare and I can't believe the features it has.

I always thought that plastic rain sheild thing on the hood that pulls down is a bit of a waste of time. Now I learn it is actually a UV sheild....who would have thought of that?

Are the wheels bigger than a normal stroller? They look it on the ones I have seen in RL but they look at bit small on the pics.

Can't see Maclaren Ryder...

don't think they have the ryder anymore worth seeing if anywhere selling it off cheap. No UV shield, no adjustable handles everything else the same I'm 99.9% sure

I have the Baby Dan version, which is very much like the XT (has 5 recline positions, raincover, shopping basket, head support, padded sholder straps, adjustable handles & umbrella folding), but also has an anti tip feature, which prevents pushchair tipping back when you hang bags from the handle, even if you remove the baby.

It is also a lot cheaper than the XT. Kiddicare are selling them for under £100.

Pinkchampagne · 11/06/2007 22:28

The baby dan one I have is called the Stockholm, and kiddicare are selling them for £59.99 instead of £100.

SlightlyMadScientist · 11/06/2007 22:32

I have just seen that....might try and get to see one in RL...ILs live near kiddicare so I can go and have a nose. It looks a bit 'chunkier' than the XT though, but the reviews are very good. Definately a contender if I can't get the XT cheap enough int he next month or so...

If kiddicare have them offer I'd be quick - I think they have free delivery and a good returns policy. buy it and return in a few weeks if you can't find xt?

SlightlyMadScientist · 11/06/2007 22:38

Kiddicare always have something on fantastic offer. I am half waiting for them to get teh 2007 model XTs in and hoping they will approach the £100 mark TBH...

I am not desperate. I have a pushchair & I have a very basic stroller I just want something between the too longer term...

It's the best pushchair I've had (& I've had a few!), I think the anti tip feature is what does it for me, because the pushchair I had before (Maclaren Triumph) would tip back with DS in it once I hung a few bags from the handles, wheras with this one you can actually remove the child from the pushchair & it stays upright! Perfect for shopoholics like myself!!

It has quite a wide seat, but folds up as slim as the average stroller. It is longer than my Triumph was though, but then so is the XT.

SlightlyMadScientist · 11/06/2007 22:44

Will try and get to see it in RL first, may try and get to kiddicare at the weekend if I can't find anywhere that has it locally. I deffo like to see what I am buying.

Not that I don't trust you - I ust like to fiddle with things before I commit myself

Fair enough, we all like to fiddle before commiting!!

I can recommend the Silvercross pop. It is usually about £100 but they have it on the Boots website for £80 at the moment.
