'Real' tool kit for a 6 year old to use when supervised. Does anyone make one?

DS is 6 next month and desperate for a tool kit like his Dad's. I can't find anything between plastic Bob the Builder stuff (which he's grown out of) and grown up 'take you hand off with the blade' completely real tools.

Does anyone know of anything in between that a fairly intelligent 6 yr old could use while supervised?

thanks

We have the junior carpenter set - very nice, but in hindsight a lot of money, you could try axminster power tools, they have a website and have lots of small hammers, mallets etc.

My mum just bought a real juior hacksaw and clamp and screwdriver for my DS2 when he was 4

We had very few bleeds, and he really enjoyed it

This is brilliant - just what we were looking for, thanks. DH says he has one like this as a child.

If I don't find anything to compare with this will probably buy it.

cheers.

Wow, 4 yr old. He must be pretty sensible - don't think I would have trusted ds 2 years ago ! Thanks for the idea - might check out what it costs to put some individual tools together.

Need to make sure he keeps it away from 2 yr old dd too !
