maxi cosi cabrio car seat (the hood/ sunshade bit)????

I've just had a maxi cosi cabrio car seat delivered but it doesn't seem to come with the sunshade bit that I see out and obout on these car seats. Is that right? Should it have been included with the seat? If not, does anyone know what they're called and where I can buy one?

Are you sure it isn't just tucked away ? I thought it didn't have one with it but was shown that it was so well hidden within the edge of the seat I'd never have known it was there !!

misdee · 11/06/2007 14:36

its tucked at the back of the seat apparently. near the top.

tokentotty · 11/06/2007 14:36

Perhaps head to anywhere close to you that sells them and 'innocently' ask about the sunshade ??

You have to dig for it, mind your fingers! Its hidden between the hard plastic back and the cushioned part of the seat.

LIZS · 11/06/2007 14:40

are you sure it isn't tucked away behind the head of the seat - it is described as "integrated" ! click here on the circle above the head support cushion.

Thanks everybody . Of course you are right!! I didn't get any paperwork with it so would never have known. I really had to dig for it though- thanks for the warning Singapore!

Glad to be of assistance.

My friends had this carseat a couple of years ago as did we and they only realised the sunshade was there after 10 months when they saw us using it on a sunny day! They also didn't know about the storage compartment at the back!

barbamama · 11/06/2007 15:13

Why didn't you get the manuel? It is quite handy for fitting and taking it apart to clean it - you will never get it back together again the first time without it! You can download it from the MaxiCosi website.

Are you sure your manual isn't in the compartment at the back. Btw the sunshade is bloody tricky to get out. Did you press the little button that releases the back to let the hood out or did you just yank it out (like I nearly did!)?

barbamama · 11/06/2007 15:26

That's true - now I think about it the instructions were in the secret compartment!

bumperlicious · 11/06/2007 15:44

When we got our pushchair and car seat delivered it was like some bloody Krypton Factor test trying to figure out what went where and pressing all these different button etc.!

bilblio · 11/06/2007 16:09

Have you spotted the little switch underneath? Mine didn't come with instructions either so I was investigating it thoroughly and I'm guessing the +/- 5kg switch underneath should be altered depending on the weight of your child. I asked my SIL who's been using the seat for 11 months and she'd never realised it was there.

These hidden compartments are good, but I like some level of intuitiveness with things.

barbamama · 11/06/2007 16:11

yes you flip the switch underneath for a newborn which lifts the base up slightly so they fit better without being slumped. You then put it back when over 5kg so make more space for a smaller baby. Again, same friends had no idea about this and never used it either! It is all in the instructions if you can find them.

barbamama · 11/06/2007 16:12

Sorry I mean bigger baby.

bumperlicious · 12/06/2007 11:30

Ooh, didn't realise about the switch. Must remember to look at ours.
