I'm unfortunately having to scrap my car, hoping to get a new one but it'll be a few weeks at least before I have the funds. I'm not sure what to do in the meantime about my insurance. Do I keep it and just change it to a different car when I get one or do i cancel the current policy to restart when I have a different car? Policy only renewed end of July and I wanted to stay with them this year to build up my no claims but now this happened and I don't know what's best. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cancelling it would usually be quite expensive. You should be able to suspend the policy for a bit between cars. You'll need to ask your insurers.

All depends on what your changing from and to. If your changing from a 1.0 fiesta to a modified impress, you might find that your current insurer won't want to insure the new car anyway.

However, if you're staying in a similar motoring bracket, then it would be best to just swap the insurance over, as the fees will be less, and the no claims you have built up so far this year won't be lost.
