Roof box questions- especially for those with a ford

We have a ford focus (boring but reliable) .

What size roof box would be good- don't want to be too small/too big.

Any reccs for roof bars would be great too.

Any other tips for choosing a roof box?

We bought a roof box yesterday and went for the medium sized one(we have a Picasso)which is fairly big at 470L.It's probably best to look at all the different sizes before making your mind up as theres loads to choose from.We went for the Thule bars and locks and were told that they make it easier and quicker to get the box on and off and obviously buying the locks also hopefully stops the bars from being pinched.

Thank you for this- have seen Thule pop up quite a lot on searches so they are obviously rated.

Whereabouts in the country are you?
Dh went into Halfords to get the box and have it fitted and it worked out to £370 and they were too busy to fit it at the time.I looked online and found a place in Hackney where he actually got a bigger box and better bars, free fitting and the lot was only £264-excellent service and very professional.Only downside was it took jim an hour to get there from where we live.
