Bosch, for my money. Very quiet and seem to generally be considered the best dishwashers. I know a couple of people who have the Miele one, and find the cutlery tray very fiddly. But Miele for washing machines, definitely. And fridges, apparently -- I've been convinced that I need a Miele to replace our ancient fridge/freezer, just need to round up the cash to pay for it.

Oh bother that link won't work

Don't want to spend more than about £400

Ask JL who manufactures their machines. Some of their own brand stuff is made by brandname manufacturers with slightly different styling.

And it's generally better to buy a bottom of the range version of an expensive brand than a flashy one with lots of extra features from a cheap brand.

Do people rate Siemens?

JL are doing a Siemens one for £349 with a five year guarantee

I don't know if this link will work but it's here

My old bosses have recently got a new siemens dishwasher very smilar to that

I love it... its really cool and you can all sorts of things with a racks and baskets etc to fit in whatever you want!

BUT my fav dishwashers (the ones that i have used the most) are Miele... they are fab and clean realy well and work forever and ever! I also love having a whoe, rack for knives and forks etc so you dont waste plate space with a cutlary basket

Saying that i LOVE the siemens as well, just hasnt proved to me yet that it will last forever like a miele. Cleans relaly well though

My old bosses LOVE it too!

and popped home to my dads...

he hs just got a johm lewis dishwasher....

it is FAB.... i LOVE it too and am thinking of getting the same one for my kitchen!

the only thing is the cutlary rack has to go in a certain space on the bottom level.... where as in the siemens it can go anywhere on the bottom!

That Siemens one looks fine - triple A rated which is what you should look for. I have a Bosch and the arrangement of buttons etc is exactly the same as that Siemens one so wouldn't be surprised if it is the same dishwasher. I do have a John Lewis double oven and wouldn't buy another - not sure who the manufacturer really is but I'm not overly happy with it (and we had to send back the first one they delivered because it was so badly finished)
