Bloody Parasols!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please help me - i am on my third parasol of the year!! I know babies are expensive but this is rediculous!
No 1, from Asdas, turned inside out when i ran into a bush and never worked since
No 2, from mothercare, couldn't fit the clasp on the pushchair (Graco Stirling)
No 3, from Argos, clasp didn't open far enough really so has been jammed on but finally snapped today.
Any ideas???

I never got on with either parasols or canopies... they're all a pain to adjust to the right angle. We recently got a Shade A Babe and am quite pleased with it so far.

Sorry never got the hang of either. Every time you change direction you need to alter them! I wouldn't have thought you need one this summer would a rain cover be more appropriate?

I made a little curtain which I attached to the hood of the pram with velco. Basically I got a square piece of fabric and hemmed it all round then stuck it on - a huge success. And several weeks after I ventured out on the streets with curtain I saw a few other home made ones appearing and began to wonder if I set a fashion!!

another vote for shade a babe - and although they seem expensive, in the long run you save money as about 3 parasols a year (our total too)is pretty expensive
but right now I'd wait til next year to buy one!

I got a shade-a-babe recently after several annoying parasols, but I have to say I'm pissed off I spent the money on it. It's like a rain cover - totally obscures baby's view and lets no breeze through, and DD hates it. I did think when I bought it that by the time she was sitting up and looking around it might annoy her, but she's only 4 months and alreadt cries the minute I put it over! I wouldn't waste your money on one. Home made jobby sounds much better (if you can sew !)

i have had enough - i am going to write to graco later - even their own make parasol doesn't fit on the buggy, how stupid is that!
I know some people don't bother but DD is edging towards ginger, so really need to keep her covered, also it is very uncomfortable for her to have the sun glaring in her eyes.
I love the home made suggestion!

I have a canopy you can have - it seemed to fit my Graco travel system well enough but I just prefer the little brolly more. (it is white if that matters!)

Let me know and I'll happily post it.

Thought it was just me 'cos I live on the coast (windy). Dh got the first - I trotted merrily back to M'care when it broke a few weeks later(thinking that they were intended to be semi disposable) and almost fell over when i saw the price.

I just use a surong with a few oversized plastic pegs. Works a treat.

Urg ... I know fee77, it's a total pain.

Those shade-a-baby things are useless though in my opinion unless your child's asleep. My dd's 22 months and there's no way she's allowing that great hulking thing to hang over her view of the world going by if she's awake. I do use it when I want her to nap in the pram though. But I have to put it on when she's fallen asleep and when she wakes up the first thing she says is: 'mummy put black thing away!' .

Another vote for shade a babes. We got ours a few weeks ago & now it seems indispensible. I think kiddicare.com do them a bit cheaper than JL, plus there's no P&P to pay.

We have a shade-a-babe too, found it useful for ds's first summer but summer after that he wouldn't tolerate it obscuring his view.
