Adult Acne

Hi guys, I need some help!

I had acne as a teen, absolutely horrendous.
I finally cleared my skin around the age of 24.

(After 10+ years or severe acne)

After I had my 2nd, my skin turned horrible.

I went to the doctor, tried every face wash cheap and expensive. Spent a fortune.
My doctor advised me to go on the pill. I tried 3 different types. The only thing that changed was my mood and weight.

I tried old wives tales to clear my skin, ie witch hazel, tooth paste.
I even ordered zinc based products on line.
Nothing has worked.

I wash, exfoliate, tone and cream my face twice a day without fail.

What I'm asking is has anyone experienced the same thing? And does anyone have a different solution for me?
All advise welcome.

Please help!!

Thanks in advance MSSU x

Does your toner have salicylic acid in ?

Cleanse twice. Tone with the above. Moisture.

GP if that fails x.

I haven't got a toner with that in it...
Is it available over the counter?

Thankyou for your advice.

I would recommend scrapping any products that are scented, sometimes acne can be caused by the perfume and essential oil extracts in skincare. Try using a retinol product like the 2% retinol from the ordinary, cheap as chips too. Another god send for me has been acne stickers, they're like tiny compeed type plasters you put on overnight and they really work wonders. If all else fails the dr can prescribe a more topical retinoid called differin which I've also had good results with

Hope some of that could help

I wash, exfoliate, tone and cream my face twice a day without fail.

You're overdoing the exfoliation. If you insist on exfoliating daily, it should 1. be a very gentle exfoliator and 2. only be once a day.

It took me years to work out that gentle products are more effective for bad skin rather than the harsh, stripping products that we are all tempted to use. I now use a face wash for sensitive skin that is all natural ingredients and it makes a big difference. I exfoliate once a day with an exfoliator designed for daily use.

You need to start by looking at are you using products suitable for your skin. You don't mention what skin type you have. This is pretty key when choosing products.

Is your acne hormonal? It sounds like your doctor thought it was?
