ok am having a mild panic after watching which video about car seats. Now Ds has the graco hi liner as we didnt have much money etc at the time.Particularly suitable for a zafira please. Now I am thinking I would feel extremely guilty if something happened and this booster seat was inadequate...so tell me what booster seats you use and why!!!

graco hi-liner? I thought the hi-liner was britax? If it is the Britax one then it is one of the Which? best buys, and a fantastic price. How old is he?

Nemo2007 · 05/06/2007 22:31

no its the basic graco one..thought it was hiliner..lol He is 3.8yrs but is very tall and thin but too tall for the other britax seats he used to use plus DD1 now uses it.

dunno then, mine is definate the Britax, I got another for my mum's car when I went back to work a few months ago, as she did have a Graco Junior and Which? slates it, and I though for £30 I might as well just have another one.
Just tried to check Graco on Which? but they didn't test any of their models in the last report and it isn't throwing up the 2006 report.

PrettyCandles · 05/06/2007 22:49

Which have just tested boosters again, but they don't seem to have taken into account the fact that most people don't have Isofix cars. 5 out of their top 6 are Isofix - not much use when you're trying to get a non-Isofix seat, and pretty useless when all they say is that non-Isofix seats don't score highly because they're not Isofix, rather than which are the best non-Isofix.

Anyway (rant over) Maxi-Cosi and Britax score consistently highly, so the Birtax HiLiner (which is what both of my older two are in) is probably a safe bet even non-Isofix. Graco don't really have a good reputation, unfortunately. That said any properly-fitted car seat is better than none.

I've just got a Maxi Cosi Rodi for my 3.9yr DS and it fits lovely in our Zafira along with the Tobi and Cabriofix (Rodi in the middle). It is slightly wider than our old Britax hi liner, but I like it as it fits much more securely. HTH

here is a report into the DANGEROUS CAR SEATS

Nemo2007 · 06/06/2007 10:11

It is mainly the side impact protection which apparently is not even part of the legal requirements. However of most people I know to have had car accidents about half have had side impact which is what worries me.

the britax evolva 2-3 is one of my favourites, its a bit pricy but worth every penny as its far more comfy than the graco, has good head support and fits most cars very well- halfords or other retailers will fit various seats for you to see which one is best in your particular car.

hope this helps!

Seona1973 · 06/06/2007 10:19

argos are still doing the britax hi-liner for £30 - thinking of getting it for dd

Nemo2007 · 06/06/2007 10:21

is the hiliner as good as it doesnt seem padded which is what the report was looking at.

we have maxi cosi rodi for dd1 and dd2, about £50 in halfords (normally £90), it has side protection thingies

Nemo2007 · 06/06/2007 10:29

think I will take a trip to halfords.

Does anyone know which highback boosters came out as Best Buys in the latest Which report just out, please?

lovedandadored · 06/06/2007 13:00

i ordered a maxi cosi rodi xp for £74.99 from boots (£5 cheaper than halfords) plus extra points - at the moment they have 20% off all car seats and pushchairs aswell i think

nearlythere · 06/06/2007 13:04

evolva 2-3 isofit

maxi cosi rodi XR

evolva 2-3 ultra

Concord Lift evo PT

Concord lift protect

Maxi Cosi rodi xp

goes on in the same fashion, tbh the britax ones and the maxi cosi ones always do well!

I'll carry on the list if anyone actually wants it!

PrettyCandles · 06/06/2007 14:10

IIRC Britax Hi-Liner was one of the best buys before Isofix seats came out. It's certainnly very comfortable for my two - they often sleep in theirs, and get a decent view past the head protectors when they're awake.

reiver · 06/06/2007 14:31

Thanks for the list nearlythere - useful!

Nemo2007 · 06/06/2007 15:01

Just been looking at the concord seats and they look really comfortable and padded. Think I am leaning towards one of them.
