yes I know it's early but I like to be organised! if anyone knows where I could locate a nice wooden ( or similar) nativity scene I would be really grateful. I have seen a puzzle style one in the new GLTC catalogue but I'm after something a bit different. Thanks in advance.

you're welcome I used to sell traidcraft in our church so I knew they'd have nice ones. I'm going to have a browse round now and try to be organised too!

Follwoing on from this, if anyone sees an advent calendar that you could reuse each year (and not involving chocolate or treats) pleas let me know. We had a circle which you slotted 24 stars onto - each star had a different Christmas picture on. It came out every year when I was a child but I've never seen anything like it since.

juniper68 · 19/08/2004 16:19

I know traidcraft used to do a pocket one?

donnie, I've just been on the site and ordered a jacket, cardigan and some geobars-no xmas things though

Tortington · 20/08/2004 00:22

church!

juniper68 · 20/08/2004 00:25

she'd have to wait a while though custardo and she wants to be organised

Tortington · 20/08/2004 13:07

they will order it in for you if you ask the old lady ( it always is) at the back of church

tassis · 20/08/2004 20:38

StickyNote, there's a great advent calendar available in several mail order catalogues. I'm rubbish at links, but go to www.bakerross.co.uk and type Nativity into the serach facility and they have a lovely one.

juniper you extravagant devil! I have ordered the catalogue and am salivating....btw stickynote there are some really nice reuseable advent calendars in the great little trading catalogue, oretty pricey though.

I've just been looking at some of the links here on Mumsnet and found that "little Earthlings" are doing a wooden nativity set for £20 - it has 40 odd pieces I think. I saw it and remembered you were looking for one - Hope this hasn't come too late for you!

woodpops · 25/08/2004 08:32

ELC have one in their new catalogue.

donnie · 26/08/2004 16:35

thanks folks - I can't cope with the choice!

Playmobil do nativity sets, from what I can gather there are 24 numbered pieces and you add a new piece each day. Several different designs/themes, looks like they bring out a different them each year. Have a look on ebay as Playmobil can be quite expensive.
