Zafira no longer in production

So I read online that the zafira is no longer in production, but I’ve found some excellent deals at garages for preregistered ones. Ideally I’d like a Touran but for nearly £10k less I’m wondering if a zafira would be ideal?

Is it a daft idea to buy a car that’s no longer made? I only have 2 kids and just want to be able to give the occasional friend or grandparent a lift but there seems to be no proper 5 seater car so a “7 seater” seems to be my only option.

It’ll have similar engine parts to other Vauxhall’s if that’s what you’re worried about?

Haven’t zafiras had lots of trouble recently? I certainly would never trust one.

I’d never ever buy a zafira. Too many have caught fire, I think you’d be daft tbh.

Our zafira caught fire whilst I was driving it. Thank god I didn't have the dc with me as they were both in car seats and I'd never have got them both out before it was engulfed in flames. This was after it had been through it's recall safety check.

Sorry, hit post too soon!

I would never, ever trust a zafira. Go for something that won't try to kill you!

Vauxhall is sold as Buick in the rest of the world. Buick is owned GM, so Chevrolet, Cadillac, Holden and GMC will share common parts. Finding parts won’t be a issue

CheeseAndVinegar · 19/08/2018 21:53

As far as I can see it's only the model B which was catching fire and that's the one they've stopped producing.

The Tourer C is still in production and as far as I can see has had no problems with catching fire

The dealership I went to said it was being replaced with a 7 seater van type vehicle, which looking online must be the Combo Life.

I’m aware of the Model B fires, but it wouldn’t be a model B I’d buy.

Any other ideas for a 2017 or 2018 car that can seat 5 (2 in car seats) for £14k? (This would rule out the Volvo XC90 Mumsnet tees are keen to recommend 😉)

Thanks for the info about parts, by the way! That was what concerned me.
