I have a very cheap verbaudet one and was very pleasantly surprised that my 4 year old ds (average sized) slept really well on it.

Go for it!

Ooooh, I have a large 3 year old too, and we bought one second hand (thank goodness) He didnt like it at all, said he was too hot and kept rolling off it.

But, I did realise two things: the house we were in had those economy heaters that come on at night, 2ns, I blew it up to much, like it bounced to the moon. We put cushions either side so he didnt roll off. My DS likes to spread his legs in bed, and he found the RB quite restricting. He shared a room with my sister and she had a horrible night with him, waking and whining all the time.
I would say, if you could, try and borrow one and try it out. All kids are different, so if you do get one, yours might be OK with it. sorry to be a bit neg, but that was our experience. xx
