Any city/banking types know about Abbey?

I've had a current account with the Abbey National for 14 years. Just recently the long queues (20+ minutes) to pay in cash, the horrible un-user friendly website & now the call centre having been moved to India (or so it seems) I'm seriously considering moving my account.

Thing is, if it has just been taken over the last thing I want to do is move it & miss out on a share offer.

Does anyone know how likely it is that there will be anything on offer, or might I just as well move now?

I don't think you qualify for a share offer if you're a customer of Abbey but if you were a customer before they demutualised, you may have been offered some shares then, which would make you a shareholder and this takeover bid would then affect you.

If you're just a customer, the takeover bid shouldn't really affect you at all.

Try this article for a better explanation.

cheers

Thanks for that Pam. I had a quick surf this morning & couldn't find anything. We DID have shares at the time they demutualised but I've no idea whether we sold them or not!! I must have a look. (Either way it looks like moving the account won't make a difference).
