wondering about getting an epilate, after rave review in Times. is it v painful though and really better than shaving?

definitely better than shaving but it is painful. i am kind of used to it and even do my armpits. i would do a full grow out (if you can bear it) and then get a professional wax and use the epilate to maintain it.

thanks, so does it have same effect as waxing then? Too difficult to do 1st time myself? coudn't face full grow out, too hairy!

ooh we've had quite a few threads about these lately, i use one it is ok, not painfree (worse the hairier you are) and can take a while if you have fine hair.

but i would never ever shave and am willing to go through a fair amount of trouble to dehair.

pretty much the same as waxing - i tend to be abit patchy but mostly cos i get fed up. i think you are more like to get ingrown hairs so you should probably exfoliate more (not that i do, too lazy). i think hair grown after shaving will be pretty painful to epilate.
