I'm sorry if I sound like a idiot...
I've just bought a semi auto car and thought it was going to drive like a auto but it doesn't.
My previous auto I would move my foot slowly off the break and it would creep forward...this doesn't,it stays still or sometimes if I remove my foot totally it moves back slowly.
How do I creep forward in traffic with no foot clutch and no creep using the break?
I'm scared to drive if

I have a semi auto Yaris. To creep forward you just need to gently press the accelerator. If on a hill, you need the hand brake on and accelerate to the biting point before releasing the hand brake. Everyone else finds my car very jerky but I'm used to it now. Going slowing takes a bit of practice!

Slowly, not slowing!

I've just been out (7 am ) this morning for a practice and I find it jerky too ..I've read this is when it's changing gear and to ease off accelerator till it changes.
Few weeks hopefully il get the hang of it.

But I made to McDonald's for my breakfast so I'm happy and got petrol too (after not realising to open it you had a little button near your seat ) flicking through the user manual in the petrol station must have looked weird Grin

I used to have a Yaris MM - it was a lovely little car. It does take some getting used to, and tbh I never thought the function of the semi auto was that great but it was fine and I loved the car so so much - I was sad when we outgrew it.

As PP says just gentle touch the accelerator to creep forwards and if you learn to anticipate when it is going to change gears and ease off the accelerator briefly it helps with the jerkiness.

  1. Starting the Car
  2. Find the gearshift next to you.
  3. Move the gearshift back if you need to go in reverse.
  4. Put the car into drive to engage the gears.
  5. Move the gearshift over to manual transmission.
  6. Begin driving forward before shifting gears.
  7. Push up on the gearshift to increase the gear.
  8. Pull back on the gearshift to lower the gear.
  9. Bring the car to a stop before putting it in neutral.
10. Engage the parking brake before turning off the car.

Have a safe ride. ;)

this is why I would never have a semi-auto car. My yaris was one of the last yaris's (I think they stopped doing a normal auto in 2004/5) to have a proper auto box. Why have they made an MMT semi-auto that does not have the advantages of a proper auto !
