I've been looking for a sofa to go in front of the window in my living room, but I don't want something with a high back which will block out light, as the room is quite dark most of the day. What about a chaise longue? Anyone else got one? Are they comfortable / practical, or just a crap idea?

I don't think they are very comfortable or practical if you are using instead of a sofa but they do look gorgeous and are okay as occasional seating.

Thanks nogoes. That's what I suspected. Not sure if I can persuade DH to shell out for something that has no practical or comfort value.

i don't know about antique ones but we have a modern one which happens to be infront of our window and it is so comfy - like sitting in a comfy armchair with your feet up - the only problem is my dd who is 4 will not let anyone sit in it as she loves her 'chair long' - we were given ours by some friends but it is the same shape as this one in john lewis
