Replacement for Freelander 2

My Freelander 2 isn’t about to hit the point in its lifecycle where it will cost a lot to maintain so I need to look at a replacement. Ideally I’d have just bought the same again but that’s no longer an option. Reviews of the Discovery Sport and Evoque don’t sound encouraging so does anyone have an alternative suggestion?

I only need 5 seats but do need to off road through fields pretty regularly and to very occasionally tow. Lots of boot space (e.g. to hold a square bale of hay) vital. I probably drive about 10,000 Miles a year in it, a proportion of which is on motorways. Manual rather than automatic. No brand preferences. Thanks

Subaru Forester?

When you say off road through fields, it sounds as though we aren't talking of really challenging terrain, so the Subaru Legacy might be a good alternative as well, but if you definitely need high ground clearance, then maybe not?

Another one to consider is the Honda CRV.

Is the RAV4 too small?

Thanks. Not sure those can tow horseboxes though? Off road is driving through farm fields so uneven and muddy but not sides of mountains!

I'm sure the Forester would be fine with a horse box, probably the other two would as well, but I'm not an expert on towing.

Some possibilities here, but it doesn't really discuss towing
