Ok can someone explain this to me...can I in any way fit a booster seat to a lap only belt and will it be safe?

I am utterly utterly confused by searching on the internet

I can't see how the child would actually be restrained adequately, that is my problem

I am sorry, I KNOW this is my millionth car related post

I have a small car with 2 diagonal belts and 2 stage 2 seats and am wondering if I can fit ds in between the two in a booster.

Or failing that can I use a lap belt on any other kind of car seat?

or is a lap belt bascially a Useless Thing?

I personally would never put a child with a lapbelt. They cause horrific injuries (sorry!)
In australia you can get a harness that can attach to the back of the car and to the lapbelt that solves all your problems.
Or, you could get a car that has a middle seatbelt that is like a side seatbelt (an inertia thing) like I did

yes that is what i thought

i am trying to avoid buying a new car but i do only have a lap belt, and i am not getting good vibes about retrofitting a diagonal

i think it may be New Car Time

Filly, our britax carseat fits with just a lapbelt.
I think its a group 2 seat...one that goes from 9months to 4 years(or x amounts of kgs)

Ds3 was in the middle with the lapbeat until we had to buy a new car for ds4 arrival!!

I wouldn't put the child in, restrained by the lap belt, but have had a car seat that fitted with a lap belt. Child is then restrained by the harness. It was a Britax CLub Class (older version of the first class) but I think the freeway goes in with the lap belt too. Ours was a good, secure fit.

The best thing to do, I think, is to take your car along to Mothercare or Halfords or wherever and explain your dilemma. See what they suggest before you go buying a new car.

aha

so

we might be able to get two stage 2 seats in side by side then a booster on isofix?
