Swaddling blankets?

OK, with a lot of help from you lovely mums I've nearly got everything basic and practical that little one will need. I'd like to treat it to a really lovely swaddling blanket - bearing in mind it'll be born in June so nothing too hot - and just wondered if you had any special recommendations?

Thank you x

I just used a ordinary sheet.

Folded into a triangle tucked under one arm, and tucked the otherside under other arm and folded the bottom under.

we used the miracle blanket, which worked well.
but I'm sure an ordinary sheet would do the job too.

bear in mind she may hate being swaddled (some do) so don't spend a fortune - use a sheet to start with and think about a blanket if she likes it

i used a flat pram sheet for DS, like a ever so slightly stretchy , fleecy cotton, very cheap from mothercare..trick is to make it quite tight!

Oh thanks ladies. Realise I don't know enough about swaddling - googling now and learning quick!

If your baby is due in June you would be better off using a large peice of muslin, that way the swaddle will only be for comfort not warmth. If you can't find a large muslin in the shops you can buy it from a fabric shop.

Another vote for the miracle blanket - available from mothercare (looks exactly like the one Paulaplumpbottom linked to). I tried using a normal blanket but couldn't find one the right size - they all seemed to be either too short or so long you had to wrap it round the lo a zillion times (not good in June). The miracle blanket is quite light cotton so good for smmer months. Of course, as has been pointed out your lo might hate the sensation of being swaddled so might be best to wait and see (or just add it to the huge pile of 'stuff' you will have bought thinking it was necessary and found you didn't need at all... or was that just me??)
