Friend has just had DC3 after an 11-year gap. What's the most useful gift I could give her - something that didn't exist 11 years ago?

So far, I've thought of a grobag - something extremely useful that I don't think she would have had 11 years ago and perhaps not know about now. But what other new, or new-ish products are genuinely an improvement on their predecessors? I'm looking to spend about £30.

A bumbo - used mine lots

Those bumbo seats which mean baby can sit up when s/he is about 4 months old? Safe place to park them as well, when bigger kids are rushing around. Don't know the price, I'm afraid, our one did the rounds of the NCT class for all the second babies to sit in

Grobags are fab though, actually I would get her one of those

someone bought me a grobag for dd2 - there was ten years between her and dd1 (still is actually ) and I thought it was amazing!

I bet baby alarms have improved. AND oh yes, I know, what about one of those fabulous ear thermometers, the ones that go BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP?

How about a moulded bath support, ours was brilliant, you forget how slippery a wailing wet newnborn can be

Agree with a grobag as well

Some of the new style play gyms are terrific, or the newer cot mobiles set to music - we had the Tiny Love ones of these and would highly recommend them

A sling? Bet they have advanced a little bit in the last 11 years.

Ummmm....still thinking....

Taggie blanket?

JolieGirl · 24/05/2007 15:44

A really lovely changing bag! Ta dah!!! That's my best idea I think - fits the budget, and I bet they must be new over the last decade, or at least dramatically improved. I had a gorgeous OiOi one and have used it every single day for the past 12 months so fab value for money - and it is also a gift for her as well .
