FLIER · 23/05/2007 12:44

To be honest the best thing would be to do some freezer meals.

claricebean · 23/05/2007 12:53

I loved the taggie blanket a friend bought me when DD3 was born 5 weeks ago. She's my fourth child and we have loads of hand me downs, so could not justify spending money on soft cute blankets, but absolutely loved getting it as a present.

Porpoise · 23/05/2007 12:54

This is a bit pricey but gorgeous
And even 3rd time round you need socks!
They do them in pink and in yellow too...

katz · 23/05/2007 12:54

flier - i saw it earlier and was thinking 'oh that would be a nice born present'

FLIER · 23/05/2007 13:01

You're right, Nemo, but I'm a couple of hundred miles away from her, altho visiting soon. so freezer meals not possible

Porpoise · 23/05/2007 13:12

well, I like them anyway

FLIER · 23/05/2007 13:14

Porpoise thanks for that - I've been spending the last 10 minutes looking at everything on this site and am just about to order some stuff. its brilliant - just hope they come in time before I travel - have you ordered from them before?

there's an organic company www.faceofflowers.com and they've got some lovely gifts for both mother and baby. There are also loads of other organic companies if you google with gorgeous stuff for newborns that are a bit different.

FLIER · 23/05/2007 13:19

thanks luciemule methinks I'm gonna end up spending a fortune online today

Porpoise · 23/05/2007 13:20

Sorry Flier - didn't mean to huff!
Glad you like them. Site seems pretty reliable: ordered something from there on Monday and it came today.

FLIER · 23/05/2007 13:24

The Gluttonous Gardener do lovely Mulberry bushes with a brass tag to put the baby's name and birth date on if she has a garden.

hana · 23/05/2007 16:04

what about something with the baby's name, like wooden letters for a door? I found new bibs were excellent, and muslins. It's nice to have new clothes for teh baby as well, maybe something they can grow into and get a lot of wear out of , like a jacket or little leather daisyroot type shoes

if you haven't already purchased anything what about these:
John Lewis imprints
personalised fleece blanket

btw my new (3rd) baby loves her taggie blanket - they weren't around when I had the first two.

Chandra · 23/05/2007 16:11

I would give her a small comforter for the baby and a book of babysitting vouchers (if you feel like babysitting your nephews a few times)

WestCountryLass · 23/05/2007 21:48

We were given things we had lots of like baby towels and romper suits so I took them back and got things we needed like nappies and nice baby products:
