Neighbours parcel delivered gone wrong

The delivery man came to my address with a big parcel and asked me to sign for it for the flat opposite, I did and he put a note through the door. I live with lots of people in a flat so I left it in the hallway.

Its been there for about a week so I checked the adress and its for someone about a 10 minute walk away. The parcels too heavy to even lift. So what shall I do just keep it in the hall and hope someone picks it up?

Could you walk to their house without the parcel to tell them it's there/ put a note through

Or do you drive?

I’d either knock on their door or drop a note in their letter box in person asking them to come and collect in case they didn’t receive a card from the delivery firm. If they don’t respond then there should be a number to ring on the box.

I would also not sign for parcels unless you take them in to your house. You have signed to say you have taken delivery, if they are taken from tour communal area you could be held liable.
