Car insurance query

Hi all

I'd be grateful for some help as I've never claimed on our car insurance in 27 years of driving!!

I hit a deer the other day (at a low speed deer ran off so hopefully was unharmed)

My car has a dent and paint marks now.

I've had a quote to repair and I couldn't believe the cost £950 +VAT.

I have no claim discount protection. And a £200 excess with Churchill.

My husband is a second driver (also never claimed)

My question is that we are hopefully going to buy a second car soon. I would be the secondary driver on the policy.

Would his policy cost more as he is a secondary driver on my policy and will my claim increase the premium as I will be a secondary driver?

Huge thanks!

Don't claim,
shop around for another price - don't tell the other paint repairers the price you previously got quoted.

Even if you don't repair it, the amount a car dealer would knock off for the damage would possibly be less than the £950+vat which is a very high price if the damage is minor
