Hi. I want a new 7 seater but am bamboozled by the options out there. I currently have a ford galaxy which is lovely but wanted something different this time. Does anyone have recommendations? I need a spare wheel too - can't be doing with a puncture repair kit!! Thanks.

Hi,
what is your budget?
Will you be paying cash or finance?

Cobblersandhogwash · 05/06/2018 23:53

Tesla!

Or Volvo XC90 hybrid.

Seat Alhambra (or VW sharan) - sliding doors 😍

But they're probably only the dream accessory if you've got little ones!

Racecardriver · 06/06/2018 17:49

Range rover does pretty decent seven seater with fold down seats.

I’ve got a Seat Alhambra - 4 years old now and love. It has the electric sliding doors, electric sunroof & boot. It’s been great. Was considerably cheaper than the identical VW Sharan (bar the badge). Previous to the Alhambra I had a Volvo XC90 and loved that too but the turning circle was pants!!! So in my search for the car after the Volvo the main issue was a small turning circle which the Alhambra has. It’s not flash though... more of a working car than good looking.

Oh and my kids are now 14, 13 & 9 (so 10, 9 & 5 when we got it) and the sliding ELECTRIC are a godsend - not just for little ones!

CarDad · 06/06/2018 23:32

agree, sliding doors are brilliant with kids

daydreamer45 · 21/06/2018 16:55

We can probably go up to £32Kish. I want sat nav and parking sensors too. Has anyone got a renault grand scenic? I looked at the sharan but didn't love it. I also need a big boot for the dogs (back seats will be down then). Cheers.

We have four children and a large dog (golden retriever). We also often need to put bikes on the roof/bike trailer and we absolutely love our Sharan (with sliding doors). We had a Renault (Espace) before the Sharan, which I loved - apart from its total unreliability so I'd never have a Renault again.

We didn't want a large 4x4 as I really don't care about a badge, we don't need to tow and round here they are ubiquituous so it's rather nice to be in something different Grin.

However, that said, now that the children are 14, almost 13, 10 and 8, legroom is becoming a bit of an issue so I'm not sure where we go next. We did look at a Discovery but they seem to me to be a total reverse tardis - they look huge from the outside, but put 6 people in one (3 of whom are 6ft or over) and a dog, and there really isn't much space inside.

Another vote for the Alhambra. We think ours is great for our family of 6!! A problem we found with 4x4s such as the X5/Q8/XC90 was that, although lovely cars with large boots, once the two back seats were up, the boots were not much more use than one in a MINI! Plus, the two back seats wouldn't be comfortable for anyone over 5ft. Cars such as the Alhambra have the full-sized rear seats so are comfortable for most anyone.

check out a SSangyong Tourismo

7 seater, huge boot, loads of equipment, 5 year warranty from new and some excellent pre-registered deals about

Wolfiefan · 21/06/2018 23:57

I wouldn't get a Renault.
Had a scenic a few years ago. Nothing but problems. Hugely unreliable and costly. Never a Renault again!

somewhereovertherain · 23/06/2018 06:55

Grand senic is smaller than the galaxy. I’ve had Renault’s with out any issues.

Skoda kodiaq?

Or Kia do a big 7 seater.

CarDad · 23/06/2018 11:51

Kia Carens 7 seater is reliable in petrol form, but its a smaller MPV 7 seater similar to a Renault grand scenic or Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.

The Vauxhall Zafira Tourer is the best value 1 year old, plenty available with big discounts as Vauxhall often sell them to lease or hire companies who use them for up to 1 year and sell them on.

The best value brand new is the 7 seater Fiat Doblo which can be had with big discounts and should come in around £12k

The best value big 7 seater is the Ssangyong Tourismo

The best big 7 seater is the Ford Galaxy IMO

The Citroen space tourer and Peugeot Traveller also come with 5,7 or 9 seats and while they are a good vehicle, the prices are high similar to a Galaxy.

As a left field option, the Nissan X-trail can be purchased with 7 seats and comes with a strong petrol engine option.
