Personally I would go for a solid wood bed instead - whenever I have bought furniture in that veneered chipboard stuff it has been really flimsy and fallen apart after a while.....

this is true but 150 pounds for a midsleeper with shelves etc is a very good price? which inexpensive midsleepers do you recommend?

I think a friend has got the whitewashed pine one from Argos - don't know the price though...

We got the white washed midsleeper from Argos with the slide and curtains etc, cost about £180. Was a bit dubious about what quality would be like but could not afford the £500 system from thuka or flexa. We were pleasantly surprised - the bed itself is very good quality - but the mattress is a bit naff! Hubby managed to put it together by himself - and he is not v good at diy! DD1 adores it. Bit of a nightmare when she was sick one night tho!
