Silverettes

I’ve had a cracked, bleeding, painful nipple since pretty much day one (he had a tongue tie). Now the latch is great but the nipple is still agonising. I have tried hydrogel, lanisnoh, jellonet and have been wearing Silverettes 24/7 for 3 days. The issue I’m having is that they’re filling up between feeds (within an hour) and digging in to my breasts. Im waking up in the night covered in breast milk from where they have leaked and I’m wondering if I’m not making the problem worse by having constantly wet nipples? I’m still having the problem when using nappies as breast pads.

I’ve looked on all of the other threads and can’t find anyone with the same issue. How do I get this crack to heal? Is something wrong?

Hi OP I suggest you ask MN to move this to Infant feeding, there are some very experienced posters there.
I think the thinking has changed on healing nipples, when my Dcs were small, it was all about allowing air to reach the nipple (which still makes sense to me) now I think the idea is moist healing and allowing the crack to heal from the bottom up rather than scab over. I thnk using Lansinoh or similar would help with this. In any case having something dig into your breasts is a recipe for disaste, I would thnk better to have breats pads that you change frequently.
But I'm sure someone with more knowledge can advise better than me,

Sorry, I couldn’t find the feeding section (baby brain). Thank you 😊
