Roof Boxes - Any recommendations or any to stay away from?

I'm looking for a roof box for my Vauxhall Zafira. It doesn't have a roof rack so I'll need to get roof bars to.

We're going camping this summer (well in a couple of weeks actually) in Somerset with some weirdos I met on the Internet ( ) and then afterwards onto Newquay. I've got a five year old ds and an 8 month ds both of which require lots of baggage.

Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

Thule are the best by all accounts, Flip - bit dearer than others but possibly not v much (haven't compared).

We have a Karrite which was fitted by a specialist company - my old car had roofrails already so it was box+grippers. (DH's current car also has roofrails so that's OK - my Zafira doesn't so at some point may well have to get new grippers to fit into the slots in the roof.) It is OK but we have to keep it out of doors and some of the screws have gone rusty.

Have a look here . Has several brands and prices to give you an idea. (Halfords can be cheap but are a bit rickety I think.) And it has a store in Bolton! (At Indespension.)

We just bought one from that roof box company, very quick service and the site was good cos it said if it was ok for your car and even divided it onto the year of model too. We got a fapa but we haven't tried it yet.

We have a Thule which is great and needed to have the whole works - bars, box, etc. We bought ours in Halfords who offer a free fitting service which was fantastic as it just means less flapping about. It's amazing how much you can get into it as well.

we got ours from the roofbox.co.uk as well - they were very quick to deliver. Their site seemed very imfortaive as well.

Don't buy the fapa roof bars, the fapa box seems great but the bars were hard to fit and we ended up damaging them. So we had to go and buy the expensive thule bars and 4 branches of halfords had the rails and the feet but none stocked the fixing kit for them that you need. So we got the roof box co. to send them next day delivery, they came ,we have a box, we can go on holiday.

Okay, shoot me now. Dh decided to go down the route of the cheapest he could find. We not have the £74.99 pound box from Halfords and the Halfords own roof bars and kit. In total £114.97.

See if I'm annoyed at the end of our holiday!!!
