Jaguar F Pace vs Discovery Sport

Weighing up these 2 cars as our next family car. Bonus for Discovery is 7 seats and capability in the snow. I know we don’t often get snow but DH has a crucial job that he must get to and our land rovers have previously be unstoppable in the snow. However F Pace looks great. Not too worried about 5 seats as wouldn’t use them often. Anyone know what it’s like in the snow? Anyone have either car? Anything to avoid?

My brother has an f pace and it’s tiny inside. Would go disco all the way.

The f pace is very nice and his is high space But small

butteryfluttery · 22/04/2018 06:41

I drove both and bought myself the Disco. Had better boot space and better rear visibility.

Bellie99 · 22/04/2018 06:48

I have the f-pace and whilst I love the drive and the handling of it, next time buying a discovery. Hindsight is wonderful and wish I had gone with the discovery last time.

F-pace is small inside, although we did fit 5 of us and luggage in for holiday this year it was tight.

BuzzLightyearsHoneyBun · 22/04/2018 06:55

We have a discovery sport and it is brilliant, struggling to think of any down side to it!
Big enough boot for all our sport equipment, that is with the back seats pushed far back, loads of room for DC. Really nice to drive.

The 6/7th seat in the disco are an afterthought and not suitable for anything other than tiny children.

We felt it wasn't any bigger than a Ford Focus inside.

Didn't try an F Pace and decided to go big or go home and bought a mini bus....

Once we have fewer children/business needs I'll look at the disco again lol

If this is true then JLR products are the last thing I’d be looking to buy. A Toyota Landcruiser would be where the smart money goes.

Interesting thread OP as we are considering the same two cars. Currently have a Jaguar XE R-Sport which I love, but with 2 under 2.5, there isn't enough boot space for a long weekend away when the buggy is in there.

Have test driven and looked extensively at both but are leaning towards the Discovery as it's bigger inside and the extra 2 seats would be useful when family come to visit (we live abroad).

We have an Fpace and really don’t like it. The auto gearbox is horrible, it has ratttles they can’t/won’t fix, the turning circle is humungous and it’s very hard to park as it’s so big! The infotainment stuff is very outdated. We’re getting rid of it and going back to Audi’s.

BigGreenOlives · 22/04/2018 08:19

We were really disappointed that the disco sport boot doesn’t go flat. The seats fold down but the boot slopes so you can’t get as much in.

Cobblersandhogwash · 22/04/2018 08:19

If you want 7 seats and a reliable spacious car then consider the new Volvo XC90 hybrid. The Inscription Pro is really lovely.

madasamarchhare · 22/04/2018 11:58

Thank you for all your responses. Interesting your thoughts on f pace. Must admit have only seen from the outside so must look inside and test drive I had imagined the inside would be as big as the DS inside.
Not keen on the new volvos way too square. Also Audi’s look so outdated now. A new one looks the same as one that was built 10+ years ago.
Have driven a DS previously and did love it so feel encouraged by your positive comments.
As an aside anyone got or driven a merc gla? Any idea what they’re like in snow. Although I don’t think they’re v big inside either are they?

My brother works for them and he says the f pace every time. Lighter, newer, better fuel economy and looks better.

DancingLedge · 22/04/2018 17:56

Never driven a Merc 4 wheel drive. Merc front wheel drive in snow? Hahahaha hahahaha hahaha

BarbaraOcumbungles · 22/04/2018 18:17

morewashingtodo we test drove the Kodiak and it was lovely to drive. We’d have got one if it weren’t for my dh being a massive brand whore! It was nicer than the Volvo XC90 , the Merc and the new Velar by miles.

snow our fpace has shocking fuel economy - 35mpg on a good day. It does nowhere near what was stated when we bought it.

madasamarchhare · 22/04/2018 18:59

Ok lots to think about. I think the merc is out. I must organise a test drive of the f pace. DH won’t go for a Skoda

We have the jaguar f pace suv. Loads of room in the boot and back passenger side. Took my dsis wheelchair and luggage no problem.
