Need help with second hand cosatto car seat

I've inherited a Cosatto 'go safe' car seat from brother and am worried about safety. I went to John Lewis to buy one for my car and thought I'd use the other one for Granny's car. JL told me all sorts of believable horror stories about poorly fitting car seats. Does anyone have the one I've got and what do you think about using it?

if its your brothers, i assume you know the history of the seat, and that he hasnt been in accidents. Poorly fitted car seats are unsafe, but there are companies that can check the fit of a seat and you should also be able to find out online somewhere whether its suitable for you car. i'll have a look later after big brother (sorry!!)

I have said before and will probably say again that think John Lewis nursery dept staff are a bit irresponsible when advising about products. When I was loking for a pushchair for DS1 they cam out with all sorts of theories and research that I have never heard before or since and, believe me, I read alot of parenting books while I was pg!
