Disappointed with quality from La Redoute

Is this normal for them?

Have never used them before but there were some discount codes on MN so ghave them ago.

Got my first order yesterday: 2 skirts for DD. One is so thin it makes the skirt almost unwearable - it is completely transparent despite being a dark pink/purple colour. The other skirt has very little shape to it and again is rather thin.

Have a dress coming in a seperate order soon, so I wait and see.

I paid very little int he end after the discount codes so not bothered in that sense, but was very disappointed.

A friend had told me they were the same company as Vertbaudet. Since found out they are the same group, but not the same clothes. Have always had really nice, good quality stuff from Vertbaudet, although I think they are a bit dearer I guess.

Anyone else found the same with La Redoute.

not used them and wont now i think!

You have to get to know their stuff a bit, I think: they have different own-brand labels, and after a while you know which ones to avoid. Often, I've found that anything that is really drastically reduced is not worth buying, whereas if you use your discount codes to buy the better quality stuff, it can be a good deal. The Edeis stuff is quite well made, thought not trendsetting by any means, and you can find well known brands, too. But Vertbaudet is certainly better quality than the basic Redoute stuff.

The very thin skirt is Okaou
The other skirt is A l'Heure Anglais

I've bought some stuff for DD from La Redoute - OKAOU stuff mostly I think, and it was lovely. I find their sizing odd though - always seem to end up reordering a size bigger.

Yes, I ordered age 6 and even then it isn't that big. DD is only just turned 5.

I have seen LR mentioned on MN so was disappointed. Maybe just a bad batch???

i bought loads maternity and kids clothes from la redoute and some very good stuff for the price. i dont buy mini price items they seem really cheap and nasty. kids clothes normally good, try different things and they do good discount codes. if i dont like i normally send back, never had problems, quite good customer service too.

scatterbrain · 11/05/2007 19:53

I gave up on LR for quality reasons - had a few very disappointing items, one even fell apart on first wash ! The sizing is very very small - it is the same with captain Tortue (French party plan clothes) - I thought maybe french children very weeny ?

I ordered items from them pre dd, in preparation for her arrival. Once used I realised how crap they were..I noticed upon delivery at how poor quality the items looked BUT it was only upon useage and washing the items that I knew 100%. Crap crap crap. I bought dd a dreambag for her to sleep in and on the 1st use the poppers that kept the overarm straps together got stuck together so basically they had ulled away from the fabric..ffs what would have happened if dd had done this at a later date and had cut herself on it (quite a sharp metal piece) or worse still had swollowed it...

LR, refunded it but no apology..Verbaudet are just as bad imo..Expensive yet sh1t quality.

Skribble · 11/05/2007 22:45

I found quality was not good either, free gifts were good though kept them even though I returned ordered items.

SimplySparkling · 11/05/2007 22:56

I've had some things that were very very poor quality. Otoh, dh had a shirt which is really fab quality. It is a Taillissime one and is lovely to iron.

sammysam · 12/05/2007 17:22

I've had thing from LR and VB and have found quality bad-the discount made be try again and i was just ad dissapointed-won't be using them again-plus they tried to charge me for items i didn't receive

Hulababy · 13/05/2007 18:55

Now you see the quality we have had from Vertbaudet has been very good, excellent at times even afte riots of washes. Hence being so disappointed with La Redoute. But the things I have bought from V were a fair bit dearer than LR, so maybe that is why???
