Baby swimming gear - what do I need?

DS is 11 weeks old and in a couple of weeks we're heading to Centre Parcs for the weekend for a friend's birthday. We haven't been swimming yet... I've heard talk of a load of special nappies and various neoprene garments but what do I actually need?

Thank you in advance from a FTM!

Get a pack of swim nappies from the supermarket (huggies or similar) then a neoprene nappy to go over the top (splash about happy nappy are good) - can order on amazon. For a baby that little I would also get a neoprene wrap (I like the splash about ones but plenty available). If your baby doesn’t poo in the disposable swim nappy then you can dry it out and reuse (useful somewhere like CP where you may be swimming a few times a day).

Agree with pp!

You don’t need any more than that, although like all things there will be plenty of people trying to tell you that you do!!

Also be prepared to not spend too long in the water. My 2yo has yet to spend more than 20-30 minutes in a pool (including CP) without getting really cold (teeth chattering and blue hands). So try to bag some seats and keep towels with you to warm up regularly.

A fluffy hooded towel for him and another big one for you, so that you can dry him off quickly and then wrap yourself in yours so that you're warm in the century that will take you to sort out him, the nappy, the babygrow etc before dressing yourself.
