Hi pesme I didn't put my son in a bike seat until he was 10mths old but a friend of mine stuck her son in one when he was 7mths old so I think it is personal preference. my seat has two prong like things which attach into a unit that is bolted to my bike not like the older style which sits on a carrier um I don't know the name of it sorry

I think it depends how long he will be in it. We bought one which attaches at the back like Loua's I think. Ds was about 7.5 months when we started using it. He has very good head control at that poitn and didn't slump too much. I think if your baby doesn't sit up well or has poor head control it may be better to wait. This is entirely my opinion only and not based on anything I have read.
He likes going on the bikes now, and looks so cute with his little helmet on.
