Who sells the best summer gingham dresses for school??

My dd starts school in september, I thought I had loads of time to buy a couple of summer dresses for her to wear until the weather turns colder but a couple of mums at school have said its best to get them now as they always sell out quickly. There seem to be so many different types, which have you bought & been happy (or not) with?
Seeing as I'm on the subject of these little dresses, does anyone know of anywhere that sells BIG sizes, age 14-15. There is a 9 year old girl at school who needs this size, obviously Tesco, Asda etc don't make them any bigger than primary school age, so the poor thing has to wear her winter skirt & blouse. Just wondered if anyone knew of anywhere that caters for bigger children. TIA

I think M & S are the best quality but then they are slightly dearer than the supermarkets. The may also go up to size 14.

Personally i like the sainsburys ones best. Tescos ones don't need ironing, but aren't that nice, the Sainsburys ones are kind of floaty and a nice shape.

With M & S as well, you sometimes find they sell off the school dresses at the end of the summer really cheaply.

M & S Up to Size 14

M&S go up to age 14, at least in the teflon checked classic ones

the A-line ones are more forgiving when they're a bit too big/ bit too small than the ones with a waistline so last a bit longer.

Thanks everyone. I am going to have a look at the sainsburys & m & s ones when I go shopping at the week end.
Have checked the M & S website & they don't have the big size but will pass the info on to her mum tomorrow, she could always phone the shop to see if they have any in stock.
Anyone else?

the national schoolwear shops sell ginham dresses in 100% cotton - sometimes those polycotton mixes aren't great in the hot weather
