Found a 2007 Mini Cooper hatch 3 door online for £6k, 1.6, petrol, automatic, mileage 10k. Is this a good price?

Yes it's a good price but make sure it has full service history and check the exhaust for rot.

An ELEVEN year old car for £6k?

You must be mad.

SeeKnievelHitThe17thBus · 19/03/2018 12:10

I have a 2009 car and paid much less than that; it had 27k miles on the clock.

I'm guessing the price is because of the low mileage but I agree with FancyThatFence, it's a lot of brass so a car that's so old. You could get newer for cheaper.

MaidenMotherCrone · 19/03/2018 12:18

It's a good price for the car Op has seen. Of course you can get cheap cars but Op wasn't asking what Car can they get for 6K?

FancyThatFenceEdge · 19/03/2018 14:01

I'd be more worried that that piece of shit Mini has only done 10K in over a decade.

Has it been parked up? has its lubricants/oils been maintained? Has it been serviced? Lots of mechanical questions.

Mini's are notoriously fucking shit and unreliable too. Like I said, you'd have to be mad to spend £6k on a decrepit 11 year old junk car like that!

Piss on ops chips fancy 😂

DH had a 2007 mini which he originally bought back in 2014 for £6k (I think). He sold it early last year for £3k. It had a higher mileage than the one you've looked at but otherwise was in good nick. I think that's a very high price for such an old car, regardless of the mileage.

UnrelentingFruitScoffer · 19/03/2018 15:09

Go on one of the big online sites like Autotrader or Honest John and check. You should be able to check the typical price for exactly the model and age you are looking at. Honest John will also give you details of past recalls and typical problems.

Minis are part of the BMW group and I don’t think it is correct to say they have worse reliability problems than other manufacturers.

Personally, my cars are 15 and 17 years old but well maintained and running happily at 176K miles for the Volvo and 110K for the Ford. It’s all about maintenance.

My next car will be electric.

"Minis are part of the BMW group and I don’t think it is correct to say they have worse reliability problems than other manufacturers. "

Fucking LMAO

Remind us all please, when the last time that BMW, or any shitty German car maker was at the top of the reliability charts in Europe for several years like Lexus or Honda or Subaru, for example....

Hilarious!

10k in 10 years no fucking way I’d be buying that I’d be fucked.
