I would love a big American refrigerator but the Freezer section is always small......why??

You can get ones with big freezer, smaller fridge (I think).

I am sure I have seen alot of variations, 1/2 and 1/2, one smaller than the other etc. Go to a big currys and have a look (assuming you haven't already)

We have one of these and the freezer section is quite large. However, you do lose the top area on that side for the ice maker which stores all the ice cubes, so that's probabley why you don't get quite as much freezer space as you might imagine.

This doesn't help you in your search but, by way of a possible explanation, I've found that in Canada they generally have a separate freezer that's as big as the fridge (!) but which is often kept in the garage/utility room. Good luck with you hunt for an optimum fridge/freezer balance

BTW, we got ours about 8 years ago and have never regretted it once. It is fan-bloody-tastic

WE bought an AEG fridge and freezer about 4 years ago - both full height and stand side by side. It emans we don't have teh ice / watre in eth door thing that American fridge freezer's do - but we benefit from a huge fridge and huge freezer! (at a fraction of teh cost)

No one has the 'American' fridges they sell here.

They have side by sides, mostly.
