Sangenic Nappy Wrappers

Is anyone else having a problem with these since they changed from yellow cartridges to white? They don't seem to fit as well and tear everytime I use it - or is this just my wrapper that's lost a part?

HI!!

I have this nappy wrapper and used white cartridges, they fitted ok. Just wanted to say (a bit out of the topic) that I don't use it any more as smell is unbearable. They don't keep the smell in. Wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Art · 09/07/2002 21:29

Oh No! Don't tell me that! I just bought one today. I actually removed the first nappy and spent the rest of the day with the window open to get rid of the smell, but assumed I hadn't 'wrapped' it right, as it was the first time I'd used it.

Ellaroo · 09/07/2002 21:35

Art, until they changed the cartridges I thought nappy wrappers were just the most amazing invention - they only start to smell after about 9 months - the unit, not the poo! If it's wrapped properly, no matter how bad the poo, I have never been able to smell a thing. Sorry to worry you, afraid I don't actually agree with Lilia, this is why I am so devastated that they have gone and ruined them!

Glad this thread has started, I just thought that it was bacause my ds was older so his poo smelt more! Now you come to mention it the plastic does seam a lot thinner and less perfumed (though they do still fit). May be they will get enough complaints and change it back!. I might wait untill this thread has got really long then print it and send it to them.

Zoe · 10/07/2002 08:51

I thought that it was just me as well - or that because ds is eating more variety of foods that they are smellier, but I find that there is a definite linger... I'm cross because it was my best buy up till then

Change 'em back sangenic!

Well, we still use ours for wet night-time nappies, but ds fortunately moved to pooing in the potty before we installed our first "new" cartridge. We have never had a smell problem with ours, but that could be because once ds was weaned he always had quite solid motions that could be flushed before the nappy itself went in the Sangenic. I will watch ours anxiously for signs of tearing and hope Sangenic mend their ways.

bayleaf · 10/07/2002 11:43

I too thought it was because dd was getting older and her nappies smellier - so gave up and stuck it in the loft - but now you come to mention it it did coincide with the colour change!

manna · 10/07/2002 13:47

I love ours - we live up 92 stairs, so I'm not popping out to put smelly nappies outside - no way! Mine doesn't smell, except a bit pooy mixed with vile fragrance when opened.

Ellaroo - have you still got that yellow ring that fits on top of the new cartridge? I ask because dh fitted one once and said yellow bit was 'surplus to requirements', and stuck it under the sink. After that, nappies not wrapping properly & tearing until I fitted the next one and read the instructions (something dh failed to do!), fitted the yellow thing back on and the whole thing works perfectly now!

I never bought one of these as even 3 years ago (pre-cartridge change) everyone I knew that had one said that they absolutely stank after a while.

Sid · 10/07/2002 14:40

I've had mine for 5 years now and never had any problem with it and don't clean it more than most people would. Are you sure that the yellow cartridge is supposed to go in your exisiting bin? I only ask because I once bought the yellow cartridge and it didn't really fit into my bin. I went back to the shop (Sainsbury's, I think) and they said that the yellow cartridges were for the new type of Sangenic bin. I can still get the white cartridges for my bin.

Dizzymummy · 10/07/2002 14:45

I bought one of these but thought it was hopeless - I don't think I put it together properly. It has been sitting under the stairs since - I must have another look at it as DD is getting a bit stinky now!

Daffy · 10/07/2002 15:46

Sorry to say this but I just wondered if anyone had thought about the effect these things (and nappy bags) have on the environment? things in plastic take much longer to rot down than they would just on their own. Does the product actually mention anything about this?
