Have just come home with a Maclaren Volo - any down sides before I unwrap it?!

The quick run around the dept. store worked well, and I could collapse it one handed and sling it over my shoulder, so as a bugaboo owner I was sold ......... but now I've got cold feet about having forked out £60 without checking on here first .......

I just desperately wanted something as light as possible that I can take on a bus etc...

thoughts?

the only problem I ever had with ours was the parking brakes- a fiddle to operate with my foot....but that was at least 4 years ago, so they may have changed the design by now.

no recline and no back support
tinies look v slouched and uncomfy, ok for biggers

mumto3girls · 05/05/2007 17:01

horrible material, cold in winter, lack of spinal support....

tissy · 05/05/2007 17:04

I thought the material was OK- easy to clean (with a brush)and you can get a "seat liner" in the accessory pack, which would make it warmer.

The whole point of it, I think is lightness and simplicity.

Don't understand the "lack of spinal suport"- it's not designed for children who can't sit unsupported...

MrsBadger · 05/05/2007 17:09

I know it's 6mo+
but it's like an adult sitting in a deckchair rather than an armchair / desk chair ie no lumbar support and you slump
ok for short periods or older kids though

saadia · 05/05/2007 17:11

Agree with MrsBadger, it's OK for short trips, but find that ds' back looks to "rounded" when sitting in it IYKWIM. Also not good for napping in. But I find it very useful, the suspension is great, so easy to manage on the bus, so lightweight.

Jackaroo · 05/05/2007 18:27

So far, so good then - DS is coming up 20 months, and I only plan to use it for the bus/train etc etc.. and for flights. I'm hoping that by the winter he'll be walking most places, or we can revert to bugaboo which is very snug (as a bug in fact!)...

Many thanks!
